You're right. You can't make any move.
It should have appear a message saying something like "Block. Removing one cell" or similar, and then it should have appear another configurations of cells to allow you move. Didn't it appear?

Nope. I would not have posted this if it did. I watched my opponent play for a minute or so before exiting the game

And again I am faced with an impossible hand. This time I started with it (the game started with me having 0 possible moves). There was nothing I could do whatsoever.
